The Women Behind Our Weaving

The heart of Marea lives in the community of women artisans who handweave many of our signature leather uppers.

Working from their homes and small family ateliers, they are able to continue practicing a craft passed down through generations while remaining close to their children and families. Their work preserves traditional craftsmanship while providing meaningful opportunities within their own communities.

As a Spanish founder working closely with artisan communities across Latin America, one of the greatest privileges has been building these relationships in a shared language. Speaking directly allows ideas, techniques, and details to be exchanged naturally, without losing meaning in translation. More importantly, it creates relationships built on trust, understanding, and mutual respect.

Every woven upper represents hours of careful work, years of experience, and the story of the woman who created it.
